From Souda, heading towards the airport, and then turning off towards Chania, is "Venizelos Graves" (Eleftherios Venizelos was seven times Prime Minister of Greece while his son Sofoklis Venizelos was also Prime Minister of Greece from 1943 to 1952). Apart from the historical interest of this site, which also features a statue of the Cretan hero Spiros Kagialedakis who raised the Greek flag by making his own body a flagstaff during the revolution in 1897, there are spectacular views over Chania.
